Guadalcanal - Robert Zaiman

Sorry to hear of Mr. Zaiman's death. While researching the history of my great-uncle, Wayne W. Kuhlman, who was killed in action in the Solomon Islands during WWII, I ran across an newspaper article titled "Guadalcanal," that included a first-hand account of action written by Mr. Zaiman. This story gives a fascinating and authentic glimpse into life during combat operations in the South Pacific during WWII. In his telling of the story, he mentions my uncle by name and hometown, which seems to indicate, that they were likely close friends. I suppose what makes it likely, is that he could have mentioned anyone present by name. At the beginning of the article, (published 12 October 1943 in the Hartford Courant) it mentions that Zaiman lost "two of his close buddies in an action within the past few weeks." Presumably, my uncle was one of those two. He was killed on 16 September 1943. They were both assigned to the 9th Marine Defense, 90mm Anti-Aircraft Unit. Their particular unit only lost three (3) Marines during this timeframe. It doesn't appear likely, from this obituary, that Zaiman had children, but if anyone has his WWII writings, journals, or anything that might have more information about Wayne Kuhlman, please contact me.
