Obituary for Edwina M. "Vicki" Szymkowicz Jr.

Edwina “Vicki” M. Szymkowicz, 96, of New Britain, formerly of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, January 21, 2017. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Stec) Szymkowicz, she lived in Wethersfield for over 50 years before moving to New Britain, to live with her nephew Charles. Prior to her retirement,
Vicki worked for 27 years as an Assembler for the Royal Typewriter Company and then for 18 years for the U.S. Postal Service. Vicki leaves her two nephews, Charles M. Slivinsky of New Britain and Mark A. Slivinsky of Marlborough and several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Anne, Sophie, Stephanie, Genevieve, Frances and Eleanor, as well as her four brothers, Andrew, Louis, Leon and Edward. Friends and relatives may pay their respects to Vicki’s family on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Vicki’s life will follow at 11am in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Court, Hartford.
