Condolence: Riley family, I am so sorry for your loss. i knew Joe thru his time at Hebron Avenue. He was an amazing person - so great with the kids. We shared a student and he always called him big guy and boasted the child's self esteem. I know from talking to him how much he loved his family. He told me a lot about his sister. Joe also knew my nephew Brett Hill who is around the same age. Know that you are in my thoughts. God bless. karen

Condolence: Dear Jim, Jean,Meagan & Mike; My condolences to all of you as you go through this difficult time. Please know that Joe's life although short was robust in laughter and smiles. I can remember him as a little boy with curly blonde hair always laughing and wanting others to laugh along with him. Always respectful to his elders and knowing he would touch many along the way. Joe was a man who valued family and wanted everyone to be happy, you saw this in his smile. Today it rains for it is our tears that give way to faith, that someday we can be more like Joe, giving way to the hope of seeing one another again and love the greatest gift one can give to one another. Joe has given us all these three gifts! We must now find a way to give these gifts to one another as Joe has; forever in peace, faith , hope and love.

Condolence: Dear Jean and family, our hearts go out to you all. We were all saddened on hearing of Joe' s passing. As you know I was honored to have known Joe as a 4th grader and as the fine young man he became. having gone to Eastern myself and working along with Joe throughout the years. We worked at Parks & Rec. and in the school system. He had a great way with the kids and a wonderful sense of humor. I have laughed along with him and been with him at serious times. We always enjoyed bumping into one another around East Hartford. In my book he was one of the best. While I hadn't seen him in awhile , I often thought about him and his friends. The Case Family shall miss him dearly as I know we all will. In sympathy and love, From ,David&Susan Case

Condolence: Dear Jean and the Riley family I am so sorry and saddened by your loss. I will always remember the years I got to work with Joe at Synergy. The ping -pong matches, putting contests, mini bowling and the four boys lunch club. His humor, competitiveness and genuine concern for others made him so special. I will never forget after I spoke at my father-in-laws funeral the giant hug he gave me with tears in his eyes. He was big in size and bigger in heart.

Condolence From: Joan Harpie
Condolence: Hi Jean, Words can't express how badly I feel. As I am sure you know, Joe was one of my favorites. Every once in awhile I think of him when friends and I talk about our days at Pitkin. Brendan Doran came from Sears to install my clothes dryer in 2012 and he filled me in on Joe and a few others. He was larger than life and even as a second grader that heart of gold shined through. He always had a sparkle in his eyes. He with the help of others, made for a fun filled year. I truly enjoyed working with him. Jean, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Joan Harpie ,

Condolence: Words cant explain how much you meant to other people. You werent just a teacher to us you were a friend and helped as much as you could no matter what. Your heart was so big and the love you gave to everyone was so big and powerful that even tho you didnt see it you changed alot of synergy kids life. For me its going to be hard because you helped me finish high school you were the one that told me "hey kase you are done" that was probably the best day of my life and Ill thank you for the rest of my life. I will cherish every memory we made from us in school to us hikeing and camping in the woods for 3 days and that whole time when I wanted to give up you pushed me and said come you got this. Those are the memories I will keep forever. Thanks joe for everything I love you and will miss you a whole lot

Condolence From: Stephen & Aiko
Condolence: It still seems like a bad dream. I'm in shock that Joe won't be at our next family function, cracking jokes, singing 'D!ck In a Box' or doing a rap with Tom. Joe was larger than life, always the life of the party and just about the greatest example of 'gentle giant' I can imagine. Whether we were tossing a football around on Thanksgiving or playing random board games on Christmas, Joe was the best teammate and more than a great family member, he was an amazing friend. My heart breaks for anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, because we are all suffering now. Aiko and I send our love and prayers and have had a few tribute drinks to one of the greatest! Cheers Joey Ryles...say hi to Betty for me! Love you, kid.

Condolence: Joe, from the bottom of our hearts we wish we had more time - it just wasn't in the plan. The impression you have left in our hearts is so deep, we do not know how the world will be without you in it. What does help is this.....knowing that you ARE still with us and you will remind us when you can. We love you so much. The times you have spent with us, your laughter, joy and opening your heart each moment we spoke are priceless to us. With all our love - Steve, Sue, Adam and Sarah

Condolence From: Michele Nelson
Condolence: Joe was a shining star. He was compassionate and had a gift for humor. He had the ability to connect with old and young alike. He was so special to all of us, and we are heartbroken at his loss. I am selfish in saying this, as he is with God and Betty. A much better place. I will always remember him with Adam and Mike, laughing and laughing at Dave and Busters. Two weeks ago it was all I could watch. So funny! I am looking forward to the day I will be able to watch that again with the humor he had, and not the sadness I feel now.
