Michael Patrick McHugh, 74,of Glastonbury, entered eternal peace July 4, 2009, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side. Michael was born in Cloonfad, County Rascommon, Ireland February 4, 1935 son of the late Michael and Mary (Burke) McHugh, He emigrated from Ireland to England in his teens then in 1957 to Toronto, Canada, where he met and married his beloved wife Bridget (McGee) McHugh. In 1961 the young couple came to Hartford and have resided in Glastonbury since 1965. Along with his wife Bridget of 49 years, Michael will be fondly remembered by three daughters and sons-in-law Maureen and Steven Young of South Glastonbury, Colleen and Imran Yazdani of Abilene, TX and Joanne and Mark Golden of Hingham, MA; nine cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Dillon and Lia Young, Sara, Zak and Nevin Yazdani, Shea, Brynn and Drew Golden. He is also survived by his three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Noreen and Dennis Mitchell, and Margaret M. and Kiernan Egan all of Wethersfield and Winnifred Dunleavy of Glastonbury. Michael was predeceased by his sister Sheila Dunleavy and brother Sean McHugh. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 8, 2009 at 9:00am from the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Naubuc Avenue, Glastonbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main Street, and Glastonbury. Michael’s interment will be Private in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives may gather at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 7 from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
